Softball Recap: Airport Jets vs. Linden Eagles
After losing to Linden the last time they met, Airport decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Jets walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Eagles on Saturday.
Brooklyn Martin and Alayna McDaniel were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Martin didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, McDaniel tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Martin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. At bat, Martin went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double, while McDaniel went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI McDaniel has posted over her last nine matches.

In other batting news, Brenna Baker was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Wehrs, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Airport's win bumped their record up to 21-7. As for Linden, their defeat dropped their record down to 29-6.
Airport and Linden should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Jets will square off against Monroe at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (29 vs. 122). Meanwhile, Linden (ranked 22nd) will meet Brighton (ranked 218th) at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
