Softball Game Preview: Scranton Rockets vs. Farmington Cardinals

The Scranton Rockets will face off against the Farmington Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Scranton 1.8, Farmington 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Scranton's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Western Yell County as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The Rockets haven't had any issues with the Wolverines recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

DeLaney Mainer (2026) made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Croft (2028) was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Katie Vonderheide (2027), who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Farmington waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the War Eagles.

Scranton's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Farmington, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
