Basketball Recap: West Valley Takes a Loss

West Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost to the Temescal Canyon Titans on the road by a 62-47 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 52-46 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2015.

Despite the loss, West Valley still got an impressive performance from Malachi Black, who went 9 of 20 en route to 26 points along with six boards and four steals. Black is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamessen Lima, who posted six points.

West Valley now has a losing record at 8-9. As for Temescal Canyon, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

West Valley will square off against Elsinore at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Elsinore's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven games. As for Temescal Canyon, they will challenge San Jacinto at 7:00 p.m. on January 15th.
