Basketball Recap: West Mecklenburg Takes a Loss

West Mecklenburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Chambers Cougars, falling 102-29. The Hawks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 65-17.

Chambers got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Cameron Thompson out in front who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. The dominant performance gave Thompson a new career-high in steals. Zyon White was another key player, putting up 17 points and five steals.

West Mecklenburg's record now sits at 0-8. As for Chambers, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Mecklenburg and West Charlotte will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. West Mecklenburg is facing West Charlotte at the right time seeing as West Charlotte is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Chambers will take on Hough in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Chambers is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65 points per game this season.
