Basketball Game Preview: Havelock Rams vs. J.H. Rose Rampants

Havelock is 2-8 against J.H. Rose since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Havelock Rams will be playing in front of their home fans against the J.H. Rose Rampants at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Tuesday, Havelock narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Northside - Jacksonville 66-63.

Meanwhile, J.H. Rose entered their tilt with Jacksonville on Wednesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victor by a 90-69 margin over the Cardinals. Given the Rampants' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Cardinals are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Havelock has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.5 points over those games. As for J.H. Rose, their victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4.
