Connecticut native becomes fourth member of Josh Pastner's latest star-studded recruiting class.

Josh Pastner is assembling another elite recruiting class at Memphis.

The Tiger head coach bolstered his 2013 crop of commitments Tuesday with a pledge from elite forward Kuran Iverson of Fishburne Military Academy (Waynesboro, Va.).

"The Memphis staff did a great job of building a relationship on something other than sports. They took an interest in him as a person and his academics. It wasn't just about basketball," Fishburne Military head coach Ed Huckaby Jr. said. "They really cultivated a relationship with Kuran and his family."

Iverson, a versatile 6-foot-8 prospect ranked No. 30 in the MaxPreps Class of 2013 Top 100, is new to Fishburne Military after transferring from Northwest Catholic (West Hartford, Conn.) over the summer.

Regarded as a Top 10 player in the 2013 class early in his high school career, Iverson nearly disappeared from the Top 100 altogether before putting together a solid junior campaign at Northwest Catholic. He followed with an even better summer on the camp and club circuit.

Iverson led Northwest Catholic to a 23-4 record and an appearance in the Class L state championship as a junior. He surpassed the 1,000-point plateau in his three years with the program.

Two things have stood out to Huckaby about the star forward since arriving at Fishburne Military in late August.

"He's a tremendous leader and a tremendous communicator," Huckaby said.

Iverson joins a 2013 Memphis recruiting class that also includes Top 100 forward Nick King of Memphis East, guard Markel Crawford of Melrose (Memphis) and Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.) point man Rashawn Powell.

Pastner has developed a reputation as one of the nation's elite recruiters since taking over for John Calipari, landing Top 100 talents like Will Barton, Tarik Black, Shaq Goodwin, Joe Jackson, Jelan Kendrick and Adonis Thomas.
