Eastern Hancock is 9-1 against Triton Central since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Royals will welcome the Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Eastern Hancock will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Eastern Hancock is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Shelbyville 9-8 on Saturday. The win was some much needed relief for the Royals as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Chyan Evans was a standout: she scored two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Nieko Engleking was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one stolen base.
Eastern Hancock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .412. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Triton Central earned a 7-2 victory over Tri-West Hendricks on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Brylie Couch made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Couch was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jayda McKee, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jalynn Keith, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Eastern Hancock's win bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Triton Central, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Monday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eastern Hancock hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319. However, it's not like Triton Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
