Basketball Game Preview: Raymond Rangers vs. Laurel Golden Tornadoes

The Raymond Rangers will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Laurel Golden Tornadoes at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Raymond will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Raymond will head into Monday's match having proved themselves against Pass Christian: Raymond took a 27-point defeat the last time they faced off against Pass Christian, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Raymond came out on top in a nail-biter against Pass Christian on Monday, sneaking past 43-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rangers have posted since November 22nd.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laurel). They breezed by Taylorsville to the tune of 85-10 on Saturday. The Golden Tornadoes pushed the score to 67-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tartars had no chance of recovering from.

Raymond has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points per game. As for Laurel, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
