Recap: Poughkeepsie Pioneers vs. Carmel Rams
The Poughkeepsie Pioneers's 13-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Thursday. They put the hurt on Carmel with a sharp 57-37 win. The win was just what Poughkeepsie needed coming off of a 56-30 loss in their prior contest.
Carmel lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kylie Murphy, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 45.9% of Carmel's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Poughkeepsie's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-1. As for Carmel, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Poughkeepsie will face off against Red Hook at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Carmel on the road again on Tuesday and play against Keio Academy of N.Y. at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th.
