Baseball Recap: Henryville Hornets vs. Lanesville Eagles
Henryville had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 4-9 to make it four. They lost 9-0 to the Lanesville Eagles. The Hornets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Lanesville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-5. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 16, 2024 (when they won 14-3).
For Lanesville's part, Nolyn Hall made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Hall a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Lanesville's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Jaxson Payne was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Eli Guernsey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Henryville will challenge Paoli at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Lanesville, they will take on North Harrison at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
