Baseball Recap: Horizon Comes Up Short

Horizon and Melbourne squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Horizon had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Hawks have suffered since March 17th.

Sebastian Davila was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Nico Loaiza also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Horizon and nudges their season record down to 19-9-1. As for Melbourne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 18 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Horizon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Melbourne, they will square off against Lake Minneola at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hawks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Bulldogs' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
