Basketball Recap: Princeton Day Comes Up Short

Princeton Day and Red Bank Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Princeton Day had to settle for second. They were beaten by the Red Bank Catholic Caseys 72-26. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Caseys are ranked second).

It was another big night for Addy Nyemchek, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine steals for Red Bank Catholic. The dominant performance gave Nyemchek a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was Tessa Carman, who went 6-for-11 to rack up 15 points.

Princeton Day has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season. The win (which was Red Bank Catholic's 20th in a row) raised their record to 26-4.

Princeton Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Red Bank Catholic, they will square off against St. Thomas Aquinas at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Red Bank Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
