Baseball Game Preview: Faith Baptist Eagle vs. Faith Christian

For the first time this season, Faith Baptist will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will head out on the road to face off against Faith Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Faith Baptist came into this matchup off a tough 12-run loss on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Bloomfield Christian School by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagle in their meetings with the Defenders: they've now lost four in a row.

Zach Gartrelle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Adam Walton, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Faith Christian made easy work of FAITH HomeSchool on Monday and carried off a 14-4 victory.

Eli Smith and Oliver Thompson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Smith struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Meanwhile, Thompson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. At the plate, Smith scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Thompson scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, Faith Christian got a massive performance out of Isaac Kaynor, who scored four runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Kaynor is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Litke, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4.

Faith Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .344 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Faith Baptist's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Faith Christian, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Everything went Faith Baptist's way against Faith Christian in their previous matchup back in June of 2024, as Faith Baptist made off with a 13-3 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagle since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
