Mt. Whitney and Tulare Western are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Pioneers will be taking part in a tournament against the Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Whitney is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Mt. Whitney's offense. They fell just short of Porterville by a score of 1-0 on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Pioneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Mt. Whitney saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eli McLennan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Tulare Western, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They never let Lemoore get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory on Friday.

The result came thanks to William Masterson's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Mt. Whitney's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Tulare Western, their win bumped their record up to 5-9-1.

Mt. Whitney skirted past Tulare Western 4-3 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Will the Pioneers repeat their success, or do the Mustangs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
