Softball Recap: Cory-Rawson Has No Trouble Against Perry

Cory-Rawson's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Perry Commodores with a sharp 17-8 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Fighting Hornets needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Katelyn Duffman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered eight earned runs on 14 hits and racked up 14 Ks. She also set a new season-high mark in RBI with four.

At the plate, Addyson Duffman was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Hazel Dixon, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Cory-Rawson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .525. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Perry only posted an OBP of .343.

Cory-Rawson's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-9. As for Perry, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Cory-Rawson will challenge Riverdale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perry, they will square off against Lima Senior at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
