Volleyball Game Preview: Houston County Fighting Irish vs. Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks + How To Watch

After both having extra time off, the Houston County Fighting Irish and the Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Houston County has played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Houston County is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Hickman County just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Houston County took Hickman County into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Houston County had strong showings from Peyton Brooks, who had 14 digs, and Calie Hearndon, who had ten digs and two aces.

Meanwhile, Merrol Hyde Magnet had already won ten in a row and they went ahead and made it 11 on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Indians as they made off with a 3-0 win.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-12, 25-12.

Houston County's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Merrol Hyde Magnet, their victory bumped their record up to 20-4.
