Forest Lake faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Rangers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cougars 2-1. The win was familiar territory for the Rangers, who have now won ten contests in a row.

Avery Muellner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isabella Dowdall, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season.

Forest Lake's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Centennial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-5.
