Softball Game Preview: Madera South Stallions vs. Minarets Mustangs

The Madera South Stallions will head out to face off against the Minarets Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Minarets took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Madera South, who comes in off a win.

Madera South made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Roosevelt, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Stallions were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Rough Riders on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Stallions as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.

Xochil Miranda spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Allie Cervantes was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Minarets was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Sierra, falling 13-3.

Minarets' defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Madera South, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-11.

Madera South was able to grind out a solid victory over Minarets in their previous matchup back in March of 2015, winning 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stallions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
