Basketball Recap: Chambers Comes Up Short

Chambers was the 45-36 winner over Charlotte Catholic when they last played one another back in March of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Chambers Cougars took a hard 54-36 fall against the Charlotte Catholic Cougars on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Chambers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th, while Charlotte Catholic is ranked 107th).

Maggie Kernodle continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Charlotte Catholic, going 6 for 15 on her way to 23 points. Another player making a difference was Megan Shea, who went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and six rebounds.

Chambers' loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Charlotte Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Chambers has already played their next game, a 47-16 victory against West Mecklenburg on the 24th. As for Charlotte Catholic, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 61-23 win against Providence on the 24th.
