Volleyball Recap: Chaparral Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Valley

Chaparral faced Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. Chaparral took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Valley. The Cowboys haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Several Cowboys players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jordan Pierce, who had 13 kills and seven digs. Pierce has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 40 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Izaeya Tili, who had 16 digs.

Chaparral now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Chaparral wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Sports Leadership & Management on the 18th. As for Valley, they have also already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Campolindo on the 18th.
