South Elgin entered their tilt with Elmwood Park on Thursday with nine consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with ten. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Tigers a 5-0 shutout.

Jack Zaimins looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Connor Lund, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentin Albert, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

South Elgin's victory was their tenth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-9. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Elmwood Park, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Elgin will take on Riverside-Brookfield at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Elmwood Park, they will square off against Intrinsic at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests.
