Baseball Game Preview: Richmond Raiders vs. Scotland Fighting Scots

The Richmond Raiders will face off against the Scotland Fighting Scots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Richmond will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Richmond's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Butler 2-0.

Jeremiah Ritter looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Landon Taylor was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Meanwhile, Scotland came up short against Lee County on Tuesday and fell 5-2. The Fighting Scots have struggled against the Yellow Jackets recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Richmond pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Scotland, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.

Richmond was able to grind out a solid win over Scotland in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 4-1. Will the Raiders repeat their success, or do the Fighting Scots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
