Baseball Recap: Warrensburg-Latham Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Warrensburg-Latham fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Shelbyville on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rams by a score of 5-4. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Trenton Bridges put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one double.

In other batting news, Nick Shelsta was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and one stolen base. Brody Brown was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Warrensburg-Latham's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-4. As for Shelbyville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season.

Warrensburg-Latham will take on Lexington at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shelbyville, they will square off against Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
