Preview: Moorpark Musketeers vs. Agoura Chargers
Moorpark has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on The Agoura Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Moorpark will be strutting in after a victory while Agoura will be coming in after a loss.
Moorpark can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 38-14 margin over Camarillo. Given Moorpark's advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 111th, while Camarillo is ranked 271st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Moorpark got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Cochran out in front who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Elijah Hensley and his 85 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Moorpark's victory.
Agoura had a rough season last year, but they look ready to turn that poor record around this year. They were the victim of a tough 31-7 loss at the hands of Thousand Oaks on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, Agoura couldn't push the score so high this time.
Moorpark's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Agoura, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Everything came up roses for Moorpark against Agoura in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 42-13 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Moorpark since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
