Softball Recap: Council Grove Takes a Loss

Council Grove fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Hillsboro on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 6-4. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kaedyn Litke put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over eight innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

In other batting news, Faith Blosser was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Council Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Hillsboro, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-14.

Looking ahead, Council Grove will be playing in front of their home fans against Mission Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Braves will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last five games. As for Hillsboro, they will head out to square off against Pratt at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Greenbacks will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight.
