Soccer Recap: Austin Comes Up Short

Austin lost to Florence back in March and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Black Bears lost 8-1 to the Falcons. While losing is never fun, Austin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Florence are ranked second).

Austin has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-7-2 record this season. As for Florence, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Austin will square off against Athens at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Florence, they will take on James Clemens at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
