Yerington is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while West Wendover is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Yerington Lions will welcome the West Wendover Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Yerington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.
Yerington's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past North Tahoe 10-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
The result came thanks to Toby Juarez's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Yerington got a big performance out of Valor Angle, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Angle a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Nolan Landa, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Angle wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Yerington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Wendover ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past Pershing County 9-8. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Aidien Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-5.
Rodriguez wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tavian Gonzalez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Adrian Perez was another, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-4.
West Wendover's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Yerington, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Yerington has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like West Wendover struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Yerington couldn't quite finish off West Wendover in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 10-8. Will Yerington have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
