Recap: Parker Braves vs. Fernandina Beach Pirates
The Parker Braves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell 39-32 to Fernandina Beach. While losing is never fun, Parker can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 622nd, while Fernandina Beach is ranked 294th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fernandina Beach to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jesse Basse, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Landtroop, who scored 12 points.
Parker has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Fernandina Beach, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parker won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Duval Charter at 5:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Fernandina Beach, they will be playing at home against Yulee at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Yulee is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 52.7 points per game.
