Brush had won four straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped up to 9-0 to make it five. They put the hurt on The Academy Wildcats with a sharp 35-12 win. The result was nothing new for the Beetdiggers, who have now won six contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Jolani Thomas and Dylan Krob. Thomas rushed for 164 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.3 yards per carry while Krob rushed for 122 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries. Thomas didn't just play on offense: he also picked up 0.5 sacks and made nine total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Brush was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 421 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 243 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Brush's defense made their presence known, laying out Heath Allen three times. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Thomas and Krob, who each picked up 0.5 sacks apiece.

As for The Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

The Academy's loss came despite strong showings from Allen and Hector Mendoza. Allen rushed for 82 yards on only ten carries, while Mendoza rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown. The Wildcats are 2-1 when Mendoza posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 0-6 otherwise.

Coming up, Brush will be playing at home against Delta at 1:00 p.m. on the 8th. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Beetdiggers 13.9, the Panthers 11.2) so any points scored will be well earned. The Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
