Basketball Game Preview: L'Anse Purple Hornets vs. Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes

The L'Anse Purple Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. L'Anse is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.

L'Anse fought the good fight in their overtime game against Dollar Bay on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 69-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bays. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (55), the Purple Hornets still had to take the loss.

L'Anse might have lost, but man, Sam Lee was a machine: he went 11 of 26 en route to 36 points and eight boards. The dominant performance gave Lee a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Rodrigo Cotta, who went 5 for 11 to rack up 11 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Lake Linden-Hubbell ended up a good deal behind Jeffers on Tuesday and lost 59-40.

Lake Linden-Hubbell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for L'Anse, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

L'Anse took a serious blow against Lake Linden-Hubbell when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 72-41. Can L'Anse avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
