Recap: Fowler Grizzlies vs. Peyton Panthers
The Fowler Grizzlies have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 54-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of Peyton. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Fowler in their matchups with Peyton: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Fowler lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Gage Gottbehuet. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 29 points and 12 rebounds. Gottbehuet is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Harrison Proctor, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Fowler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Peyton only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Peyton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Michael Perry, who scored 22 points along with six assists. Perry hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Gabriel Gatti was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Fowler's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Peyton, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fowler and Crowley County will face off at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crowley County is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for Peyton, they will head out on the road to take on Swallows Charter Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Swallows Charter Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while Peyton is ranked 100th).
