Baseball Game Preview: Albert Gallatin Colonials vs. Elizabeth Forward Warriors

The Albert Gallatin Colonials are taking a road trip to take on the Elizabeth Forward Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Albert Gallatin came up short against Trinity on Thursday, falling 8-1. The Colonials have struggled against the Hillers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Albert Gallatin saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Weakland, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth Forward's hitters rose to the challenge against a Leopards pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.33 runs allowed on Tuesday. The Warriors put the hurt on Belle Vernon with a sharp 13-1 win. Considering the Warriors have won four matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cy Herchelroath and AJ Grese did most of the damage at the plate: Herchelroath went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Grese got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. What's more, Grese posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Jacob Peterson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Elizabeth Forward has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Albert Gallatin, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7-1.

Albert Gallatin suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Elizabeth Forward in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Colonials avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
