Basketball Game Preview: Hilliard Bradley Jaguars vs. Olentangy Braves

The Hilliard Bradley Jaguars will face off against the Olentangy Braves at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Hilliard Bradley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Hayes with a sharp 48-26 win. The Jaguars pushed the score to 40-17 by the end of the third, a deficit the Pacers cut but never quite recovered from.

Hilliard Bradley can attribute much of their success to Sophia Lopez, who posted nine points and three steals, and Tate Dudley, who had ten points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. The dominant performance gave Dudley a new career-high in assists. Hayley Hile was another key player, putting up eight points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Hilliard Bradley was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Olentangy had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Wednesday. They blew past the CARDINALS, posting a 66-15 victory. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Olentangy pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.1 points over those games. As for Hilliard Bradley, they now have a winning record of 12-11.

Hilliard Bradley came up short against Olentangy in their previous meeting back in January of 2019, falling 36-30. Can Hilliard Bradley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
