Softball Game Preview: St. Rose Purple Roses vs. Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs

For the second straight game, St. Rose will face off against Rumson-Fair Haven. The Purple Roses will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Rose has three straight victories, Rumson-Fair Haven has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

St. Rose will bounce into Monday's match after beating Rumson-Fair Haven, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Purple Roses were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Bulldogs on Saturday. Considering the Purple Roses have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Rumson-Fair Haven's part, they saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Riley Berry, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Rose pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Rumson-Fair Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 5-11.
