Baseball Recap: Newkirk Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Newkirk duked it out with Woodland on Thursday. The Tigers came up short against the Cougars, falling 9-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Tigers have suffered against the Cougars since April 6, 2019.

Grady Wood was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

This is the second loss in a row for Newkirk and nudges their season record down to 10-10-1. As for Woodland, they moved to 8-17 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Coming up, Newkirk will challenge Chisholm at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Longhorns will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Woodland, they have already played their next game, a 14-0 victory against Yale on the 18th.
