Softball Recap: Carlmont Finds Home Field Redemption Against Terra Nova

There's no place like home for Carlmont, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Terra Nova Tigers on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-2 win. The Scots have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Kathrine Fung made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Fung wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daniella Smit, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Another was Alyssa Victory, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Carlmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Carlmont's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Terra Nova, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Carlmont will face off against Westmont at 10:15 a.m. on Saturday. As for Terra Nova, they will square off against Mercy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
