Recap: Harding Presidents vs. Shepaug Valley Spartans
The Harding Presidents's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They suffered a tough 86-62 defeat at the hands of Shepaug Valley. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Presidents players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Guillaume Mulenga Jr., who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Hasan Powell, who scored 11 points along with six assists and two steals.
Harding has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Shepaug Valley, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harding will challenge New Britain at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. New Britain will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Harding surely won't give up without a fight. As for Shepaug Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Wamogo Regional at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Shepaug Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
