            Baseball Recap: New Brockton Gamecocks vs. Straughn Tigers        
        
		
        
        
            New Brockton proved they can win big  last Tuesday (they won by ten) and  on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  9-7  victory over the Straughn Tigers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Gamecocks have posted  against the Tigers since April 13, 2017.

 The team  relied heavily on  Bryant Crumpler, who  scored three  runs and  stole a base while going 2-for-2. Those  three  runs gave  him a new career-high.  Gavin Hand was another key player,  scoring a  run and  stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
New Brockton now  has a winning record of 10-9. As for Straughn, they moved to 8-6 with that  defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.
New Brockton will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Tigers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled  at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday.
