Basketball Game Preview: Harrison Central Red Rebels vs. Gulfport Admirals

Harrison Central and Gulfport are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but not for long. The Harrison Central Red Rebels will be playing at home against the Gulfport Admirals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Harrison Central has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Gulfport will come in with five straight wins.

Harrison Central is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Biloxi on Tuesday. Harrison Central fell just short of Biloxi by a score of 57-54. While losing is never fun, the Red Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while the Indians are ranked 20th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Shaun Murray, who went 6 of 13 en route to 14 points in addition to seven boards and six assists. Jordon Beard was another key player, going 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and five steals.

Meanwhile, Gulfport won against Biloxi on Friday with 52 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Tuesday. Gulfport walked away with a 52-45 victory over St. Martin.

Gulfport pushed their record up to 18-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Harrison Central, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Harrison Central was dealt a bruising 71-27 defeat at the hands of Gulfport in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harrison Central was down 40-13.
