Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Bri Mcveigh and Ashlyn Jones Lead Allatoona to Victory

Allatoona won the last time they faced Calhoun and things went their way on Thursday too. The Buccaneers skirted past the Yellow Jackets 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Buccaneers.

Allatoona had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-17, 15-12.

Leading Allatoona to victory were Ashlyn Jones and Bri Mcveigh. Jones had 17 digs and two aces, while Mcveigh had six digs. Those 17 digs gave Jones a new career-high.

Calhoun's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chloe Edens, who had 13 digs and three aces, and Cate Rutland, who had 18 assists and three digs.

The victory got Allatoona back to even at 3-3. As for Calhoun, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Looking ahead, Allatoona will challenge North Forsyth at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calhoun, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-1 defeat against Jefferson on the 16th.
