Basketball Recap: Myers Park's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Myers Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They walked away with a 47-37 victory over the Laney Buccaneers. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mustangs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 290th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 143rd).

Laney's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of India Williams, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 13 points, and Aniece Lewis, who posted eight points.

Myers Park's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Laney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Myers Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 32-24 loss against Hoggard on the 28th. Laney has also already played their next matchup, a 55-32 win against Mount Tabor on the 28th.
