Basketball Recap: Covenant Classical Comes Up Short

Covenant Classical played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the North Hills Christian Eagles 78-47. The Warriors have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Covenant Classical lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ian Lejeune, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Mullery, who earned 13 points.

Maverick Ball was his usual excellent self, going 13 for 20 en route to 34 points and three steals for North Hills Christian. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Ball has scored at least a third of North Hills Christian's points. Adarion Hawkins was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 13 points.

Covenant Classical's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-8. As for North Hills Christian, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-12.

Covenant Classical wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-62 loss against Cornerstone Christian Academy on the 30th. North Hills Christian has also already played their next game, a 75-42 defeat against Lee Park Prep on the 27th.
