Game recap: Carrollton High School Football Team bests Monroe Area

CARROLLTON, Ga. - After swapping the lead four times, Carrollton (Ga.) took the lead for the win when Stanton Truitt ran for a touchdown in the third quarter, paving the way for victory over Monroe Area (Monroe, Ga.) 44-27.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run by Truitt, the Hurricanes went into halftime with a 14-7 lead. The Trojans scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Truitt that came in the third quarter.

The loss snapped Monroe Area's 11-game winning streak.

Carrollton's most effective player was Jarvis Terrell. The sophomore running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 13 touchdowns on the season.

Monroe Area came in giving up 14.5 points per game this season. MA struggled against Carrollton's offense, which entered the game scoring 45.8 points per game.



The loss comes after Monroe Area defeated Banneker 68-39 last week. The win brought Carrollton's winning streak to three games.

In a playoff game next week Carrollton (11-1) takes on Monroe Area, and Monroe Area (11-1) will go up against Carrollton also in a playoff game.
