Basketball Game Preview: Grand Valley Mustangs vs. Mineral Ridge Rams

The Grand Valley Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Mineral Ridge Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Grand Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Bristol just ended the team's nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell to the Panthers 55-50. The loss put an end to the Mustangs' undefeated start to the season.

Meanwhile, Mineral Ridge came up short against Western Reserve on Thursday and fell 55-44. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grand Valley will need focus on slowing down Kaden Shaffer, one of several Mineral Ridge players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 14 points. Those 14 points gave Shaffer a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Basista, who put up 13 points.

Grand Valley's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-1. As for Mineral Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
