Baseball Game Preview: San Marin Mustangs vs. Marin Catholic Wildcats

San Marin and Marin Catholic are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. San Marin will head out on the road to square off against Marin Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. San Marin is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, San Marin narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Novato 3-2.

Jaden Brown looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, San Marin's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Hugh Brady, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brady also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Marin Catholic never let their opponents score on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Archbishop Riordan. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Carson Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.1 innings pitched. Davis was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Johnny Greco, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Hunter Valla was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

San Marin's record is now 6-2. As for Marin Catholic, their record now sits at 7-3.

Everything went San Marin's way against Marin Catholic in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as San Marin made off with a 10-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for San Marin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
