Basketball Recap: Hiram Hornets vs. Cartersville Hurricanes
After flying high against Woodland last Friday, Hiram came back down to earth. The Hiram Hornets were just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 55-54 to the Cartersville Hurricanes. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 62-61 back in December of 2024.
Nas Bennett was his usual excellent self, putting up 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals for Cartersville. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Thomason, who posted 13 points and seven boards.
Hiram's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Cartersville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-10.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hiram will head out to challenge Allatoona at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Allatoona will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Hiram surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cartersville, they will venture away from home to square off against Southeast Whitfield County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Cartersville is facing Southeast Whitfield County at the right time seeing as Southeast Whitfield County is stuck on a 19-game losing streak.
