Football Recap: Delta Panthers vs. Palisade Bulldogs
Delta unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 40-7 loss at the hands of the Palisade Bulldogs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Panthers have suffered against the Bulldogs since September 22, 2016.
QB/LB Morlan threw for 27 yards on two of five attempts. Alonso Huerta was his top target, picking up 27 receiving yards.
Leading Palisade to victory were Branson Springer and Adyn Cassity. Springer rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns, while Cassity rushed for 77 yards and one TD. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Springer a new career-high. Nathan Umberger made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Delta didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 47-7 win against Gunnison on the 5th. As for Palisade, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 37-20 defeat against Montrose on the 4th.
