Basketball Recap: Bellaire's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

If Bellaire was feeling good fresh off their 60-21 takedown of Wisdom last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bellaire Cardinals fell 63-55 to the Lamar Texans on Friday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cardinals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-41 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Bellaire lost, don't look at Tyniah Smith. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 boards. The matchup was Smith's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Indiana Pak, who posted nine points along with six steals and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Phoenix Sneed, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 22 boards for Lamar. Sneed is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Mia Bardawil was another key player, putting up six points.

With the loss, Bellaire broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-10. As for Lamar, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-7.

Bellaire does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lamar, they will be playing at home against Houston Math Science & Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Lamar is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.
