Basketball Recap: Millbrook Comes Up Short

Millbrook and Sanderson squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Millbrook had to settle for second. They lost to the Sanderson Spartans on the road by a 57-41 margin. The game marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Nathan Fife continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sanderson, shooting 47% from the field en route to 25 points along with seven boards and six assists. The matchup was Fife's seventh in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gordie Balas, who almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Millbrook has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season. Sanderson is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season.

Millbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sanderson, they will host Lumberton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sanderson knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Lumberton likes a good challenge.
