Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Plainfield

Plainfield waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Martinsville Artesians. Considering the Quakers have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Jack Davis looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gavin Lykins was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Drew White, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Plainfield was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matchups.

Plainfield's record now sits at 8-3. As for Martinsville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Plainfield will head out to challenge Terre Haute South Vigo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Martinsville, they will venture away from home to face off against Whiteland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
